Established in 1991, Automated Travel Solutions, Inc. stands as a leading provider of technology for the travel industry.  Among the services we offer are consulting, training, system setup, CRS script writing, customized reporting, specialized programming, and of course, software development. We are probably best known as the creators and distributors of The Right Track, the travel industry's number one Hotel and Car Commission Tracking software.

At the helm of the company is its founder and president, Gordon Barclay.  His mission for Automated Travel Solutions was to assist travel agencies in embracing the available technology and integrating it into their day to day business lives.  Says Barclay, "Back when I started this company, it was amazing for me to see just how few travel agencies were taking advantage of the incredible technological advances that were commonplace in other industries.  Since the makeup of most travel agencies, especially corporate ones, are quite similar, it became obvious to me that the most successful agencies would be those who properly utilized the existing technology.  Then, when the commission caps were imposed, the actual survival of the agency depended on its staff having a more advanced level of technological savvy.  My goal has always been to assuage the fears most agents have of computers, and help them to realize their true potential by implementing the latest software and hardware."

Barclay's background made him well suited to fulfill this goal.  As a second generation member of the travel industry, he gained valuable experience working at Barclay Travel Ltd., his family's agency.  After earning degrees in Math/Computer Science and Philosophy at Emory University, Barclay spent several years working at American Airlines and United Airlines as a programmer of both the Sabre and Apollo reservations systems.  Finally, resolved to make a difference in his chosen field, he founded Automated Travel Solutions, Inc., which is now propelled by his 20 years of experience in the travel industry.

Since the company was founded, Barclay has helped many travel agencies utilize technology to become more profitable.  In addition to providing PC training seminars to ASTA, he has given speeches to several organizations, including a lecture on Maximizing non-ARC Profits at the 1995 Travel Weekly Focus on Automation conference.

The Right Track, the software product for which Automated Travel Solutions is best known, has an installed base of more than 60 travel agencies and corporate travel departments across the nation.  It has helped many of the nation's largest travel agencies increase their non-ARC commission intake by 50% or more, and has allowed them to maximize their revenues by making intelligent business decisions based on valid and easy-to-understand data.  Our future goal is to integrate this product into the smaller agencies, since the profit potential for even a $1 million dollar agency could mean the difference between staying afloat and going out of business.
